Pumadur RT, the high performance, heavy duty polyurethane flooring screed developed by Resdev used successfully in challenging applications around the world, has been installed to protect the trucking gangways at a warehouse in Fareham operated by one of the UK’s leading car component manufacturers, covering an area of 1200m2.
Specified and installed by industrial flooring specialists Protective Surface Coatings Ltd, Pumadur RT was selected to match the client’s requirement for a flooring system that was hardwearing, seamless and easy to clean, giving anti-slip properties in wet conditions and with a projected service life in excess of ten years.
Installed at thicknesses from 6-9mm, Pumadur RT is a resin-rich, water-dispersed polyurethane floor screed which features a lightly textured surface and a matt finish. FeRFA, the governing body of the UK resin flooring industry, classifies these screeds as Type 8, indicating that they are amongst the most robust flooring systems currently available on the market. They can be hand trowel applied to produce a heavy duty anti-skid surface capable of withstanding most conditions including steel wheeled traffic and substantial impact and abrasion.
The team from Protective Surface Coatings shotblast cleaned the existing warehouse floor and applied a coat of Resdev’s Pumaprime SF epoxy primer to improve the adhesion of the flooring to the substrate, followed by hand application of the Pumadur RT polyurethane screed. To enhance pedestrian safety, the gangways were completed in blue, with walkways clearly demarcated in safety yellow. The project was completed on time and to budget in just two weeks to match strict time constraints during a scheduled shutdown period.
Pumadur RT is suitable for a wide range of applications, including heavy duty traffic, plant vehicle areas, pharmaceutical, food and chemical processing, manufacturing and even cold storage and freezer flooring. The product is available in a choice of colours to match individual specifications and provides excellent chemical, slip and impact resistance.
